Top 5 handy apps

During our trip we used some handy and, also handy ;), free apps. Here the five we think you should really have on your phone.

1. Campermate
This really is the #1 app for travellers in new Zealand! Lots of information about places to camp, wifi spots, public toilets, attractions etc. Useable online and offline. Plentiful reviews and tips from other travellers and therefore continuously updated. We used it mainly to read the campsite reviews. It not only protected us from making some wrong decicions, but it also provided us with lots of valuable tips on where to find the most amazing camp sites.

2. Weather & Radar
This reliable German weather app never let us down! Where other weather apps failed, this one never did. And believe us, we tested it! Complete app with weather forecast worldwide, with rain radar, hourly based local forecast and eight day ahead. Recommended!

3. 100% Pure New Zealand
This handy app of Tourism New Zealand is your on- and offline travel guide. It provides you with the latest info about New Zealand’s most beautiful spots and about experiences of fellow travellers. Activities, gorgeous photography, maps, accommodations, prices; you can really find it all. With the option ‘Near Me’ you’ll see all you need to know about what’s going on within a 100 kilometer reach. Handy!

4. Pocket
Acces to internet availability isn’t that obvious in New Zealand. And if you are connected, chances are it’s very slow. Okay, the Kiwis are working hard on improving it, but in the meantime this app is a useful aid. Save web pages, online articles, videos or links in Pocket to view them later if you are offline.

5. Book Me
Unfortunately not an app (yet), but it is a very handy website if you don’t want to pay to much for your activities. Everything you can think off is offered on Book Me. Surf classes, sky diving, rafting, boot trips, canoe hiring, accommodations, wellness, museums, restaurants, you name it. All at discounted prices. Just make sure to check Book Me before you book! It could save you a lot of bucks. Up to 50%! See www.bookme.co.nz.
